LA Galaxy extend Keane's deal, secure Juninho

CARSON, California (AP) — Robbie Keane has agreed to a multiyear contract extension with the Los Angeles Galaxy, extending the Ireland captain's stay with the two-time Major League Soccer champions.

The Galaxy also signed midfielder Juninho to a multiyear deal on Wednesday after three seasons on loan from his Brazilian club. Keane has been a dominant striker since leaving Tottenham Hotspur for the Galaxy in August 2011. He scored 18 goals in 32 regular-season games last year and added six in the playoffs, leading Los Angeles to its second straight MLS Cup victory.

With David Beckham leaving the Galaxy and Landon Donovan contemplating a break from football, Keane's return is vital to the Galaxy's hopes of a third title.
