LONDON (AP) — A jury has failed to reach a verdict following a trial involving four Brighton players charged with sexual assault and voyeurism.
The jury at the Old Bailey in London was discharged Thursday having been unable to reach a decision after more than 25 hours of deliberation. Prosecutors are likely to seek a retrial. Anton Rodgers, the son of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, is standing trial with teammates Lewis Dunk and George Barker, as well as Steve Cook, who left the second-tier club to join Bournemouth.
All four men deny charges of sexual assault and voyeurism in July 2011 after a night out in the south-coast city of Brighton. They are alleged to have taken advantage of the unconscious state of a woman to commit sex acts and take pictures of her.
Only one verdict was reached, with Dunk found not guilty of voyeurism.
