MILAN (AP) — Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir appears to be closing in on a takeover of Inter Milan after flying to the Italian city for talks with club president Massimo Moratti.
Thohir met with Moratti and his son, Angelo Mario, for lunch Thursday as he bids to finalize a long running-bid for a controlling stake in the club. Neither party commented after the meeting but Moratti later said "it was only a chat." Moratti has presided over Inter since 1995.
Media reports say a deal is expected to be completed this weekend, with Thohir looking for a 75 percent stake for 350 million euros ($463 million). Thohir is part owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and D.C. United.
