Dortmund coach Klopp extends contract to 2018

DORTMUND, Germany (AP) — Coach Juergen Klopp has signed a two-year contract extension with Borussia Dortmund that keeps him at the club to June 2018.

Klopp took over at Dortmund in 2008. He guided the team to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012, won the German Cup in 2012 and reached the Champions League final last season. Dortmund is second in the Bundesliga, one point behind defending champion Bayern Munich 10 matches into the season.

Wednesday's move will make Klopp easily Dortmund's longest-serving coach if he sees out his contract. Ottmar Hitzfeld, who led the team from 1991-97, is the longest-serving coach.
