Djokovic-owned Serbia Open dropped from schedule

BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — Novak Djokovic's Serbia Open tennis tournament has been dropped from the ATP calendar.

The tournament had been scheduled to take place from April 29 - May 5, 2013. The event, first held in 2009, has been purchased back by the ATP. The tournament has failed to attract top players or major sponsors, and last year even Djokovic and other top Serbian players failed to attend.

Djokovic's Family Sport, the tournament organizer, says "we have made the most rational decision considering the circumstances." The Serbia Open was the only ATP tournament held in Serbia.
