PAULSBORO, N.J. (AP) — Residents of a southern New Jersey town where a train derailment and hazardous chemical leak have disrupted life could get a chance to meet with officials about the issues.
The South Jersey Times (http://bit.ly/QER3JR) reports a town-hall style meeting has been tentatively scheduled for Tuesday evening at Paulsboro High School with representatives from several federal, state and local agencies.
One reason it might not happen Tuesday is that the town is under a shelter-in-place order because of a high level of vinyl chlorine in the air. The gas came out of a tanker car ruptured in the derailment Friday. It can sicken people and authorities have been telling residents to stay inside.
