Miguel Angel Lopez wins Catalonia Volta ahead of Yates

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Colombian rider Miguel Angel Lopez won the Catalonia Volta after maintaining his lead on Sunday's final stage. Lopez, a rider for Astana, finished the seven-day race 14 seconds ahead of Adam Yates.

Egan Bernal was third 17 seconds back, followed by Nairo Quintana who was 25 seconds off the pace. Davide Formolo of Bora-Hansgrohe won the final stage, a 143.1-kilometer (88.9-mile) trek starting and finishing in Barcelona.

The 25-year-old Lopez took the lead after winning the fourth stage in the Pyrenees Mountains. Four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome finished the race more than an hour behind in 94th place.
