The timescale for Davies' return after surgery means he might miss the remainder of the season for his region, the Scarlets, who play in the Pro14 league. The Welsh Rugby Union added on Tuesday that flyhalf Rhys Patchell, who also plays for the Scarlets, will be sidelined for 12-16 weeks with a shoulder injury also sustained at World Cup. That means he will miss the start of the Six Nations and could be out of the entire tournament.
Another option for Wales at flyhalf, Gareth Anscombe, is also currently out injured with a knee problem.
