Mauro Icardi had put Inter ahead with a first-half penalty before Federico Chiesa leveled after the break. Inter also left it late against Tottenham in the Champions League last week and against Sampdoria at the weekend.
In Serie A, Inter has scored four goals in the last 15 minutes — the most in the league. The Nerazzurri moved up to fifth place, level on points with Fiorentina and Sassuolo. Juventus, which is five points ahead, will look to extend its perfect record against Bologna on Wednesday.
It started out ominously for Inter when Fiorentina winger Kevin Mirallas hit the post four minutes in and then Antonio Candreva wasted a great chance. Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic then did well to deny Giovanni Simeone and VAR awarded a penalty when Vitor Hugo was adjudged to have used his arm to deflect a cross from Candreva, resulting in Icardi's spot kick.
Chiesa scored from beyond the area with a shot that was deflected by defender Milan Skriniar. D'Ambrosio's goal began with a thrown-in before he exchanged passes with Icardi and scored from 10 yards.
