Radonjic accelerated down the left and curled a shot into the top right corner to send the Stade Velodrome crowd home relieved after Marseille had 34 attempts on goal. It was Marseille’s fourth straight league win under Portuguese coach André Villas Boas, the former Tottenham and Chelsea coach who replaced Rudi Garcia during the offseason.
Defender Bouna Sarr put Marseille ahead in the 57th minute following good work from Dimitri Payet and striker Benedetto. Marseille was denied by the woodwork three times. Midfielder Morgan Sanson struck the crossbar in the first half, Payet did the same with a free kick in the 62nd, and fellow midfielder Valentin Rongier hit the post two minutes later with a fierce angled drive.
Brest forward Alexandre Mendy was issued a red card deep into injury time for a heavy-looking tackle on Marseille right back Hiroki Sakai. But the decision was changed to a yellow card following a video review.
Defending champion PSG can restore its eight-point lead if it wins at Monaco on Sunday night.
